  • 00:00:05Márcia: Está no aparador da entrada. Márcia: It's in the sideboard at the entrance (front door).
  • 00:00:07Rodrigo: Não, não está lá. Devo ter pegado nela e agora não me lembro onde a deixei. Rodrigo: No, it's not there. I must have picked it up and now I don't remember where I left it.
  • 00:00:12Márcia: Viste em cima da mesa de jantar? Márcia: Did you check on top the dinner table?

  • I love your lessons, it could be nice though if there would be audio also for vocabulary section in here : )

  • Nice dialogue.

When Rodrigo says – Não precisas falar assim – I thought I could hear de after precisas – is that a possibility or is precisar always without de?

    • You’re right, Shona, he says “Não precisas de falar assim” –> we just missed the “de” on the transcript, but it’s already been added, thanks! In European Portuguese, we pretty much always use the preposition “de” after the verb precisar. In Brazilian Portuguese, this preposition is mostly absent. This is to say that grammatically speaking, both ways are acceptable, but the actual use of each one depends on the Portuguese variant.

  • Hi gang. In the transcript, Rodrigo says “e agora não me lembro onde a deixei.” There should be a “de” after “me lembro,” correct?

    • Hey, Howard. The preposition ‘de’ can be added, but is often omitted before interrogative adverbs or pronouns such as ‘onde’, ‘quando’, ‘quem’, ‘quantas’ or ‘porque’.

    • Olá! Visto e pegado são formas do particípio passado (past participle) dos verbos ver e pegar. O verbo ter é apenas um auxiliar. Ter visto = (to) have seen. Ter pegado = (to) have picked up

  • I seem to learn like a parrot 🐦. Is it possible to stop after each phrase so I can repeat the phrase before continuing to the next phrase

    • Great idea for speaking practice! If you’re on a computer, you can hit the space bar to quickly stop and start the audio. If you’re on mobile, you can tap the play/pause button. If you want to replay what you just heard, you can use the 10 seconds back button. I hope that helps!

  • Onde será que a pousei? looks like a useful construction – maybe add that to expressions sop it goes into smart review ?
