I only have a small question abou the text. Why is the sentence ” Nao gosto do transito” translated as ” I do not like traffic” instead of ” I do not like the traffic”? Wouldn’t it sound better if it was ”Nao gosto de transito?” Why was in this context used gostar do transito instead of gostar de transito? All the other words in text apart from transito were not contracted with definite articles…

Olá! “Do trânsito” is often used in a general sense and can be interchangeable with “de trânsito” in those cases, which is what happens here. So, there’s no specific reason why “do” was chosen, other than it being an available option. The current English translation hopefully helps to show that this is a very general sentence.

I have a quick question: Is it “agente DA polícia” or “agente DE polícia”? And I’m assuming that “tudo não” translates to “not all/not everything”, right? While in Portugal I’ve heard the expression “ainda não” also. Does this translate to “not yet”?

Olá. “Agente da polícia” is the most usual choice, with the definite article framing the noun more specifically. But “agente de polícia” is also acceptable, mainly in contexts where the term is being used in a more general/abstract manner. You’re spot on regarding “tudo não” (not all/not everything) and “ainda não” (not yet) 🙂
I have a question around the masculine / feminine form of professions. It looks like some can be used for both (e.g. o taxista / a taxista) while some have different forms (e.g. pasteleiro / pasteleria). Is there any general rule that can help us memorise?

Olá 🙂 There are general patterns to consider, not specifically for professions, but for all nouns, always with the respective exceptions, as you’ve noticed. Here’s a Learning Note that covers this in detail: The Gender of Portuguese Words | Practice Portuguese
One question: Within the lection „A bailarina é uma mulher“ is translated as „The dancer is a woman.“ Why is it a bailarina and not o bailarina, since „the“ is neutral and not necessarily female?
We can either say “A bailarina” or “O bailarino” and either option would be an assumption in the absence of any context, since none of them is neutral in Portuguese. In the real world, you’ll usually have a context to work from, so this won’t be an issue. Here, for the sake of the exercise, we just had to choose one and we went with the feminine option, which matches the identification of the dancer as a woman. It’s meant to be a very obvious statement – in this unit, our focus is just on drilling vocabulary about occupations. In any case, the masculine option could also make sense, e.g. in a scenario where a seemingly male dancer turns out to actually identify as a woman.
