1
00:00:02,966 –> 00:00:07,466
{{As the rules of confinement have become less rigid,}}
2
00:00:07,466 –> 00:00:11,546
fomos lentamente recuperando a normalidade do nosso dia a dia.
{{we have slowly regained the normality of our daily lives.}}
3
00:00:11,546 –> 00:00:14,486
Aos poucos, a circulação de veículos aumentou,
{{Little by little, vehicle traffic has increased,}}
4
00:00:14,486 –> 00:00:17,065
a quantidade de pessoas na rua cresceu
{{the number of people in the street has grown}}
5
00:00:17,066 –> 00:00:20,686
e, finalmente, sentimo-nos mais livres e felizes
{{and finally we feel freer and happier}}
6
00:00:20,686 –> 00:00:23,266
por poder aproveitar os dias no exterior.
{{to be able to enjoy the days on the outside.}}
7
00:00:23,266 –> 00:00:25,606
Sento-me na minha esplanada improvisada
{{I sit on my improvised terrace}}
8
00:00:25,606 –> 00:00:27,886
e penso que até a meteorologia,
{{and I think that even the weather,}}
9
00:00:27,886 –> 00:00:29,926
que se encontrava um pouco tímida,
{{which was a little shy,}}
10
00:00:29,926 –> 00:00:33,166
decidiu presentear-nos com um sorriso solarengo
{{decided to give us a sunny smile}}
11
00:00:33,166 –> 00:00:38,946
{{to reassure us and restore our hope in the immutability of nature.}}
12
00:00:38,946 –> 00:00:43,246
{{Nature that at each cycle takes on a new form}}
13
00:00:43,246 –> 00:00:45,686
e se reinventa, para no fim,
{{and reinvents itself, to finally}}
14
00:00:45,686 –> 00:00:48,386
acabar exatamente onde começou
{{end up exactly where it started}}
15
00:00:48,386 –> 00:00:52,686
{{and assure us that life always finds a way to go on.}}
16
00:00:52,686 –> 00:00:56,126
{{I notice a little peep and I see that,}}
17
00:00:56,126 –> 00:01:01,226
{{from two of the little eggs have hatched two little swallows.}}
18
00:01:01,226 –> 00:01:05,586
Simbolicamente, representam a primavera e a esperança renovada.
{{Symbolically, they represent spring and renewed hope.}}
19
00:01:05,586 –> 00:01:09,666
{{Our new normal allows us to breathe with some relief,}}
20
00:01:09,666 –> 00:01:11,386
mas pelo sim pelo não,
{{but just in case,}}
21
00:01:11,386 –> 00:01:15,226
{{let’s keep breathing through a mask,}}
22
00:01:15,226 –> 00:01:19,506
{{protecting not only ourselves but others.}}
23
00:01:19,506 –> 00:01:23,006
O nosso novo normal requer que a tenhamos sempre connosco,
{{Our new normal requires that we always have it with us,}}
24
00:01:23,006 –> 00:01:26,486
{{in the use of spaces and the sharing of moments,}}
25
00:01:26,486 –> 00:01:29,826
{{now that we’re allowed to visit other people,}}
26
00:01:29,826 –> 00:01:32,686
{{but without embracing those dearest to us.}}
27
00:01:32,686 –> 00:01:38,706
{{This “normality” includes the frequent use of alcohol-gel and some tissues,}}
28
00:01:38,706 –> 00:01:42,046
{{but all these changes in our daily routine}}
29
00:01:42,046 –> 00:01:46,106
{{are the reflection of continuity after adversity.}}
30
00:01:46,106 –> 00:01:51,546
{{We will know how to reinvent ourselves and find new ways to greet people,}}
31
00:01:51,546 –> 00:01:54,586
saberemos usufruir dos parques e dos passeios,
{{we’ll be able to enjoy the parks and the walks,}}
32
00:01:54,586 –> 00:01:56,466
das praias e das esplanadas,
{{the beaches and the esplanades,}}
33
00:01:56,466 –> 00:02:01,026
{{the skirts, the flip-flops, and the shorts and floats (inflatable mattresses).}}
34
00:02:01,026 –> 00:02:04,066
Com precaução, mas com muita diversão,
{{With precaution, but with a lot of fun,}}
35
00:02:04,075 –> 00:02:08,116
{{remembering that the times of confinement brought us the lesson,}}
36
00:02:08,116 –> 00:02:12,066
{{the awareness that we all need more time}}
37
00:02:12,066 –> 00:02:14,706
para investir em nós e nos nossos.
{{to invest in ourselves and our own (our loved ones).}}
38
00:02:14,706 –> 00:02:19,366
{{Let’s think about society, about the general welfare, about the best for everyone,}}
39
00:02:19,366 –> 00:02:22,746
para além das nossas necessidades individuais.
{{beyond our individual needs.}}
40
00:02:22,746 –> 00:02:24,479
E vai ficar tudo bem.
{{And everything’s going to be fine.}}
41
00:02:24,486 –> 00:02:28,226
{{Here at home, we realize that “being one for another”}}
42
00:02:28,226 –> 00:02:31,846
é a maior ajuda que podemos dar, enquanto indivíduos,
{{is the greatest help we can give as individuals,}}
43
00:02:31,846 –> 00:02:36,386
{{and to evolve as humanity, which will continue and prosper.}}
44
00:02:36,386 –> 00:02:40,666
{{For our part, I have the feeling that we will continue to contribute,}}
45
00:02:40,666 –> 00:02:43,246
e esta consciência acabou de começar.
{{and this awareness has just begun.}}
46
00:02:43,246 –> 00:02:48,206
{{Today, with some surprise, I took a test that came back positive,}}
47
00:02:48,206 –> 00:02:49,226
mas sem alarmes.
{{but without alarm.}}
48
00:02:49,226 –> 00:02:53,286
{{I had suspected for some time, and today we had confirmation.}}
49
00:02:53,286 –> 00:02:56,346
Os nossos dias vão sofrer muitas alterações
{{Our days are going to change a lot}}
50
00:02:56,346 –> 00:03:00,306
{{and there’s a lot of care and caution we’ll have from now on.}}
51
00:03:00,306 –> 00:03:02,526
Será o desafio das nossas vidas,
{{It will be the challenge of our lives,}}
52
00:03:02,526 –> 00:03:06,506
{{but I deeply believe it will also be the reward.}}
53
00:03:06,506 –> 00:03:11,106
{{We have 9 months to adapt to the new reality that awaits us}}
54
00:03:11,106 –> 00:03:16,406
{{and that slowly develops, almost silently, inside me.}}
55
00:03:16,406 –> 00:03:18,066
A natureza é perfeita.
{{Nature is perfect.}}
56
00:03:18,066 –> 00:03:21,906
A vida continua… e renasce no final de 2020.
{{Life goes on… and is reborn by the end of 2020.}}
Hi,
We’re really enjoying chewing over this one – despite (hopefully) having passed the pandemic. However can you shed a bit more light on the use of “a meteorologia que se encontrava”. I get the sense of it, but I’d like to know for sure if I’m understanding this use of the verb.
Obrigado desde já
Olá 🙂 Indeed, we can use the verb “encontrar” idiomatically to describe states or locations:
– “A meteorologia encontrava-se um pouco tímida” (The weather was a bit shy)
– “O doente encontra-se a recuperar” (The patient is recovering)
– “A casa encontra-se em bom estado” (The house is in good condition)
In the more formal language, this is a very common construction.
