Hugo: Nessa cabeça minúscula?
{{Hugo: In that tiny head?}}
3
00:00:07,865 –> 00:00:10,445
Patrícia: Ai, Hugo, agora não.
{{Patricia: Oh, Hugo, not now.}}
4
00:00:10,445 –> 00:00:12,865
Foi um dia dificílimo no trabalho.
{{It was a very hard day at work.}}
5
00:00:12,865 –> 00:00:15,125
Mas estou feliz porque acabou.
{{But I’m glad it’s over.}}
6
00:00:15,135 –> 00:00:17,167
Hugo: Este projeto foi tão difícil
{{Hugo: Was this project as difficult}}
7
00:00:17,167 –> 00:00:20,645
quanto aquele outro projeto que tiveste há três meses?
{{as the other project you had 3 months ago?}}

00:00:20,645 –> 00:00:22,685
Patrícia: Esse projeto foi pior…

Mais pequeno, mas muito difícil.

Patrícia: Irresponsáveis, claro.

não têm uma visão maior das coisas.
{{they do not have a larger view of things.}}
16
00:00:42,025 –> 00:00:45,285
Mas esse é o menor dos problemas.
{{But that’s the least of the problems.}}
17
00:00:45,285 –> 00:00:48,305
O maior problema é a falta de tempo.
{{The biggest problem is the lack of time.}}

Hugo: Mas pronto, acabou.
{{Hugo: But that’s it, it’s over.}}
19
00:00:50,825 –> 00:00:53,125
E eu tenho a certeza que tu
{{And I’m sure that you}}
20
00:00:53,145 –> 00:00:56,005
és a melhor colaboradora daquela empresa.
{{are the best collaborator (employee) in that company.}}
21
00:00:56,005 –> 00:00:58,865
A melhor e a mais bonita!
{{The best and the most beautiful!}}
22
00:00:59,185 –> 00:01:01,245
Patrícia: Obrigada, Hugo!
{{Patricia: Thank you, Hugo!}}
very good….short and very practical
Terrific length, nice use of phrases (like “mas pronto”)
I have question regarding translation of adjective ‘menor’ in vocabulary, shouldn’t it be translated ‘less’, or, if it is indeed ‘least’, then shouldn’t it be ‘o menor’ ?
Olá. In this case, the word was translated in the context in which it appeared on the shorty (the dialogue has “o menor”). But it is true that the word alone would translate to ‘less’ rather than ‘least’. The list was updated to cover both possibilities – thanks!
Olá. Acho que há um erro no texto na linha de 30 segundos. Não deve ser “continua” em vez de “continuam”, porque ele fala sobre um equipo (singular) e não acerca as pessoas (plural)? Obrigada pela as suas atenção:-)
Olá! Digamos que é um “erro”, com aspas 🙂 No fundo, há uma mudança implícita de sujeito entre a primeira oração (clause, em inglês) e a segunda. Isto é muito comum na fala informal, que é o que este diálogo representa.
Is there an way to know when to use que or do que when meaning “than”
It seems from the unit that when we talk about nouns and numbers we can use “que” but in other cases such as A mobília é mais pequena do que o esperado e o aeroporto é mais pequena do que pensava . Here the “than” refers to a an adjective and imperfect verb.
Is there any general rule ?
Olá! They are often interchangeable, but when followed by a verb, “do que” is usually the recommended option.
Would it be OK to always use “do que”?
I would say so, yes 🙂
Many thanks for that as it is a bit confusing as to when to use which form
