Nice podcast! Just one thing: I m not sure to understand the use of the word “la” in “vamos lá”. I m actually living in Portugal and I can hear this word often in different context. What does it mean exactly and is there a particular context to use it? Thanks!
Olá e obrigado pelo comentário 🙂 The default meaning of the word “lá” is “there”, as explained in this Learning Note: Adverbs of Place: Here and There | Practice Portuguese. But it can also be used idiomatically for emphasis, without any particular meaning per se, as in “vamos lá” or “diga lá”. In both cases, “lá” could perfectly be omitted with no change in meaning.
FYI, now the first Residency Permit is granted for 2 years, renewed for 3 more. :). Always love your Shorties!
“I’m American. If I don’t have health insurance I’ll catch a flu and go bankrupt.” Funny. True. Sad.
nos Estados Unidos, você pode ter seguro de saúde, mas ainda falir por causa dos copays e ?franquias da apólice? ( not sure of the word or phrase for ‘deductibles’)
Sim, deductible é franquia. Felizmente aqui em Portugal as coisas são um pouco melhores no que diz respeito a seguros de saúde!
Ótimo áudio e muito útil também! Ps. Faltou a palavra chuchu no vocabulário! Infopedia nem põe a palavra mas priberam, sim!
