1
00:00:03,000 –> 00:00:06,800
Rute: Olá, Jorge, ouvi dizer que foste assaltado.
{{Rute: Hello Jorge, I heard you were robbed.}}
2
00:00:06,800 –> 00:00:08,450
Jorge: Pois fui.
{{Jorge: Yes, I was.}}
3
00:00:08,450 –> 00:00:10,370
Rute: Onde é que isso aconteceu?
{{Rute: Where did it happen?}}
4
00:00:10,880 –> 00:00:11,900
Jorge: A caminho de casa.
{{Jorge: On the way home.}}
5
00:00:11,900 –> 00:00:17,750
{{The street was empty so I had no idea what was going to happen. }}
6
00:00:17,840 –> 00:00:21,290
{{The assailant was hiding behind a bush.}}
7
00:00:21,814 –> 00:00:22,830
Rute: Que medo!
{{Rute: How scary!}}
8
00:00:23,270 –> 00:00:29,040
Jorge: Ele puxou de uma faca e disse-me, “Faça o favor de me passar a sua carteira”.
{{Jorge: He pulled out a knife and said to me, “Please hand me your wallet.}}
9
00:00:29,564 –> 00:00:31,500
Rute: E tu obedeceste?
{{Rute: And you obeyed?}}
10
00:00:31,500 –> 00:00:36,850
Jorge: Claro que não! Eu disse-lhe, “Mau, desanda daqui”.
{{Jorge: Of course not! I said to him, “Hey, get out of here”.}}
11
00:00:37,630 –> 00:00:42,110
{{But he didn’t move, so I punched him (gave him a punch).}}
12
00:00:42,710 –> 00:00:44,340
Foi assim que magoei a mão.
{{That’s how I hurt my hand.}}
13
00:00:44,900 –> 00:00:47,060
{{Rute: And he didn’t stab you (give you a stab)?}}
14
00:00:47,490 –> 00:00:48,530
Jorge: Ele bem tentou.
{{Jorge: He tried very hard.}}
15
00:00:48,590 –> 00:00:55,770
{{Only I used to take self-defense classes, so I head-butted him right in the teeth.}}
16
00:00:56,254 –> 00:00:58,870
{{Rute: Is that why you have that bandage on your head?}}
17
00:00:59,300 –> 00:01:01,860
Jorge: Sim. Fiz um corte na testa.
{{Jorge: Yes, I got a cut on my forehead.}}
18
00:01:02,350 –> 00:01:07,690
{{The man looked so nasty that I even went to get a rabies test afterwards…}}
19
00:01:07,880 –> 00:01:10,280
Felizmente, estava tudo bem.
{{Fortunately, everything was fine.}}
20
00:01:10,810 –> 00:01:16,964
{{Rute: Considering what happened, facing someone with a knife… you got lucky.}}
21
00:01:17,370 –> 00:01:21,940
{{Jorge: That’s right, but since I was in a hurry I went to take the test in a private hospital.}}
22
00:01:22,620 –> 00:01:26,760
Saiu mesmo caro. Aqueles preços são um roubo…
{{It was really expensive. Those prices are a rip-off…}}
23
00:01:27,410 –> 00:01:30,440
Foi um autêntico rombo na minha carteira.
{{It was a real drain on my wallet.}}
24
00:01:31,004 –> 00:01:33,210
{{Rute: And that chin wound, by the way?}}
25
00:01:33,650 –> 00:01:34,950
Jorge: Ah, isto não é nada.
{{Jorge: Oh, this is nothing.}}
26
00:01:35,400 –> 00:01:41,670
{{I went to buy cheese the other day and when I left the supermarket I fell and hit my chin on the floor.}}
27
00:01:42,074 –> 00:01:43,960
Rute: Tens cá um azar…
{{Rute: You have some bad luck.}}
28
00:01:44,390 –> 00:01:47,090
Jorge: Mesmo. Bem… tenho de ir.
{{Jorge: Indeed. Well… I have to go.}}
29
00:01:47,720 –> 00:01:53,040
Ela faz anos.
{{I’m going to play ball and then I’m going to buy a cake for my girlfriend. It’s her birthday.}}
30
00:01:53,334 –> 00:01:55,350
Rute: A tua namorada é a Ana, não é?
{{Rute: Your girlfriend is Ana, right?}}
31
00:01:55,660 –> 00:01:59,740
Vi no Instagram.
{{The one with the mini pet piggy? I saw it on Instagram.}}
32
00:02:00,120 –> 00:02:03,060
Jorge: Sim. A porquinha é mesmo fofa.
{{Jorge: Yes, the little piggy is really cute.}}
33
00:02:03,630 –> 00:02:06,600
{{She even climbs onto our lap when we call her.}}
34
00:02:07,080 –> 00:02:12,530
{{But the other day she fell and hurt her hoof… I didn’t even know what to do.}}
35
00:02:13,290 –> 00:02:15,060
Tive de a levar ao veterinário.
{{I had to take her to the vet.}}
36
00:02:15,780 –> 00:02:19,700
Mas vá, tenho de ir embora. Até depois, Rute!
{{But yeah, I have to go. See you later, Rute!}}
37
00:02:20,284 –> 00:02:22,190
Rute: Xau, as melhoras!
{{Rute: Bye, get well!}}
Well done. Very helpful. Thanks
Ok I have to admit I need to begin at an easier level
This is a tough one! Here’s a link to the A1 and A2 level Shorties. 🙂
Is it me, but I thought Ana was the girl’s name in the piece? But then in the vocabulary section you say it means dwarf – which I thought was anão? PS you must have had fun writing this!
Sorry for the confusion! Ana is one of the girls mentioned, but anã (with the accent) is the feminine version of dwarf. It was used here: uma porquinha anã – a mini pet piggy (a.k.a. dwarf pig). 🐷
Muito obrigado!
Oh my goodness – what a crazy story! haha Seems like y’all had fun writing/performing this one.
