Is this passage for beginners? I dont think so ,… didnt understand a word unfortunately
Hi Avinoam! We marked this one as “Easier” because the grammar is fairly simple, but many of the “Easier” shorties could be considered closer to early intermediate, rather than beginner level, so don’t be discouraged. This particular Shorty actually shows up at the end of one of our Animal units, so it’s definitely much harder if you didn’t just study some of the vocabulary for different animals!
Lions don’t live in jungles 🙂
Olá, Achei que na palavra “crocodilo” a pronúncia foi “coRcodilo” Achei mal? É um erro ou é essa a maneira correta de a pronunciar? Muito obrigado.
Olá! Sim, a pronúncia soa um pouco duvidosa nessa linha – obrigado por nos chamares a atenção. A pronúncia correta é sempre ‘crocodilo’, embora palavras como esta ou como ‘acreditar’ sejam propensas a erros de pronúncia.
The transcript mentions “catatuas” (and the audio sounds like that too, though my hearing is poor and I could be wrong). I don’t find “catatua” in the doctionary, is “cacatua” (a kind of cockatoo) meant?
Olá. Both ‘cacatua’ and ‘catatua’ exist in the Portuguese language globally, with ‘catatua’ being the standard form in Portugal. It does correspond to cockatoo 🙂
Of course you are right. I had carelessly used the Wordreference.com online dictionary, which is Brazilian Portuguese, instead of the Priberam or infopédia online dictionaries which have both forms, or the 2001 print edition of the Porto Editora Dicionário Ilustrado which has only ‘catatua’.
