  • There are some new words and colloquial expressions here. I had to turn on the translate feature to understand it. I got a bit lost towards the end. Please can you always include the vocab list and colloquial expressions list. I feel like I have failed if I have to switch on the translate feature.

  • I, too, am wondering why some of these podcasts include vocabulary lists and lists of expressions. I know it’s a lot more work for you guys to include those, but it does help us. Thanks!

    • Just wanted to let you know that we’ve started adding the vocabulary and expressions lists to these older episodes. This one is ready to go. 🙂

    • Yes, they are the same — that first one is a capital “i”, not a lowercase “L”. Sorry for the confusion!

  • The child voice is very unnatural and “irritating” to me . Maybe use a real child with a voice not feeling the child should be put in a closet? Apologies but usually I listen with pleasure!!

    • Thanks for the feedback! This is one of our older episodes when it was just Rui doing most of the voices, so we relied on voice effects to distinguish different characters. Our more recent episodes use different speakers instead. Here are a few Shorties with one of our newest child voices, Madalena. I think you’ll find her voice to be much more pleasant! 🙂

  • I would add one more tag to this podcast – Imperfeito. It would be very useful to search episodes that have lots of forms of imperfeito in them.

  • Hi I can’t see the quiz location?
When I download an MP3, does it replay like the session above with the text and translation option too?

    • The quiz is above the transcript, to the right of Expressions. (So it goes Downloads, Transcript, Vocabulary, Expressions, Quiz.) If you’re using the app, or a smaller screen, you may need to tap the arrow to scroll to the right first.

When you download an MP3, it is just an audio file, so you will not see the text scrolling. You can download the transcript as a PDF to read along, but this is just text, it will not move in sync to the audio.

  • What is the differnce between Jogar and Brincar? I Always see jogar used when we talk about sports, like football for example, eu jogo futebol, so when to use brincar and when to use jogar?
Another point, what should I say when I want to say”I play music”?

    • ‘Brincar’ is for general child’s play or for when you want to say you’re joking. ‘Jogar’ is for specific games and also for sports in general. For some children’s games with specific names, such as hide and seek, both verbs might end up being used. To say you play musical instruments, you’d use the verb ‘tocar’ 🙂

  • Hello,

Does the sentence “Ela vivia para a dança” mean “she lived for the dance”? Could you also say “Ela vivia para dançar”?

    Thank you in advance

    • Yes, “Ela vivia para a dança” translates to “she lived for the dance”, indicating that dance was a significant part of her life. Similarly, “Ela vivia para dançar” also conveys the same sentiment, with a slight emphasis on the action of dancing itself. Both sentences are correct and convey the idea that her life was dedicated to dance or dancing. 🙂
