1
00:00:01,805 –> 00:00:02,765
Hugo: Boa tarde.
{{Hugo: Good afternoon.}}
2
00:00:02,765 –> 00:00:05,865
{{I’m looking for a nice necklace for my wife.}}
3
00:00:05,865 –> 00:00:08,185
Joalheiro: Ela tem muita sorte.
{{Jeweller: She is very lucky.}}
4
00:00:08,185 –> 00:00:10,605
Procura um colar de que material?
{{Looking for a necklace made from what material?}}
5
00:00:10,605 –> 00:00:13,825
Ouro, prata, outros materiais?
{{Gold, silver, other materials?}}
6
00:00:14,005 –> 00:00:16,425
Hugo: Depende da conta final!
{{Hugo: It depends on the final bill!}}
7
00:00:16,425 –> 00:00:18,445
Pode ser qualquer material,
{{It can be any material,}}
8
00:00:18,445 –> 00:00:21,445
{{but it does not need to be a very expensive necklace.}}
9
00:00:21,445 –> 00:00:24,205
Joalheiro: Tenho esta peça de designer
{{Jeweller: I have this designer piece}}
10
00:00:24,205 –> 00:00:27,645
com uma corrente de prata lindíssima.
{{with a beautiful silver chain.}}
11
00:00:27,785 –> 00:00:29,125
O que acha?
{{What do you think?}}
12
00:00:29,125 –> 00:00:32,385
Hugo: Lindíssima, mas é caríssima.
{{Hugo: Very beautiful, but it is very expensive.}}
13
00:00:32,385 –> 00:00:35,685
{{But I really like that necklace and the ring on the side.}}
14
00:00:35,685 –> 00:00:37,445
Quanto custam os dois?
{{How much do the two [of them] cost?}}
15
00:00:37,445 –> 00:00:39,945
Joalheiro: Vou buscar a calculadora…
{{Jeweller: I’ll get the calculator…}}
16
00:00:39,945 –> 00:00:41,805
Oh, está sem pilhas.
{{Oh, it’s out of batteries.}}
17
00:00:41,805 –> 00:00:44,045
Hugo: Eu vejo no telemóvel, então.
{{Hugo: I will see on the phone, then.}}
18
00:00:44,045 –> 00:00:48,605
{{Jeweller: Mobile phones are true machines nowadays.}}
19
00:00:48,605 –> 00:00:49,965
Hugo: Pois são.
{{Hugo: Yes they are.}}
20
00:00:50,045 –> 00:00:52,485
Bem, o preço é acessível.
{{Well, the price is affordable.}}
21
00:00:52,645 –> 00:00:54,485
Este material é bom?
{{Is this material good?}}
22
00:00:54,485 –> 00:00:58,805
Joalheiro: Sim, é bom, resistente e brilhante.
{{Jeweller: Yes, it’s good, durable, and shiny.}}
23
00:00:58,805 –> 00:01:01,425
E pode limpar o colar e o anel
{{And you can clean the necklace and the ring}}
24
00:01:01,445 –> 00:01:06,125
{{with a wet cloth, towel, or napkin without [a] problem.}}
25
00:01:06,125 –> 00:01:08,865
Hugo: Pronto, eu vou levar os dois.
{{Hugo: Okay, I will take both.}}
26
00:01:08,865 –> 00:01:12,085
{{Can I pay with [my] ATM card or just with coins and notes?}}
27
00:01:12,225 –> 00:01:14,645
Joalheiro: Pode pagar das duas maneiras.
{{Jeweller: You can pay both ways.}}
28
00:01:14,645 –> 00:01:17,165
Só não aceitamos cheques.
{{We just do not accept checks.}}
29
00:01:17,165 –> 00:01:20,025
{{And you can also see other things we have here.}}
30
00:01:20,025 –> 00:01:21,405
Além de jóias,
{{In addition to jewellery,}}
31
00:01:21,405 –> 00:01:26,705
{{I sell sewing materials, such as needles, scissors and tweezers.}}
32
00:01:26,705 –> 00:01:33,105
{{And now that winter is coming, I also have gloves, scarves, and caps.}}
33
00:01:33,305 –> 00:01:35,705
Hugo: Obrigado, não preciso de mais nada.
{{Hugo: Thanks, I don’t need anything else.}}
34
00:01:35,705 –> 00:01:39,645
{{But you need an air conditioner or heater.}}
35
00:01:39,645 –> 00:01:41,525
A sua loja está fria!
{{Your store is cold!}}
36
00:01:41,945 –> 00:01:44,345
Bem, eu pago com multibanco.
{{Well, I’ll pay with [my] ATM card.}}
37
00:01:44,345 –> 00:01:45,805
Joalheiro: Muito bem.
{{Jeweller: Very well.}}
38
00:01:45,805 –> 00:01:47,145
Quer um recibo?
{{Do you want a receipt?}}
39
00:01:47,145 –> 00:01:49,814
Hugo: Sim, por favor.
{{Hugo: Yes, please.}}
So the definition of multibanco is ATM but from the context in which it has been used here and in some other examples it means payment by debit card, correct?
Correct, we can say ‘eu pago com multibanco’ or ‘eu pago por multibanco’ when we want to pay by debit/credit card 🙂
– Tenho muitas amigas (I have many friends) -> quantificador
– Elas são muito inteligentes (They are very smart) -> advérbio
Hi, does the app include a dictionary wherein I can look up the correct word for European Portuguese?
I started with Duolingo, and still have the Brazilian versions of some words (i.e. “grama” for grass) stuck in my head.
I have been looking words up on Google, but they are giving me the Brazilian versions🤔
Olá Andrew,
For that I’d recommend using our Translator tool, which you can easily access in the top right corner of the app’s main page! 🙂
Thank you
