I feel like this is in very bad taste given what’s happening in Gaza. People are literally being starved and you are focusing on having nothing to eat or drink as the premise of your video challenge. I was interested in a a yearly membership and trying out this month to see if I would get a subscription. The program seems excellent but I can’t support this. You could have easily held the challenge asking people to submit their favourite recipes yet chose to mention twice how you have nothing to eat or drink. Why?
I’m sorry, we definitely didn’t intend to reference or joke about starvation when creating the contest. To us it was just a way to say ‘oh look we didn’t plan/cook any special meals and now we don’t have something to eat’. Basically just a goofy way to say we need our members to give us ideas. But in hindsight I see how it could be interpreted. You’re right, we could have just said ‘send us your favourite recipes’. It’s absolutely horrible what is happening in Gaza and we would never want to make light of that, so we’re very sorry that it came across as insensitive.
This looks like it was fun. I hope you both had a good Christmas. And for the record, I can’t see how anyone in their right mind could link this with the situation in Gaza. Having faced an empty fridge and empty wallet myself a few times in my life, perhaps I should be offended too? But not at a harmless video.
