Os Orgãos e Partidos da Républica Portuguesa

The Institutions And Parties Of The Portuguese Republic

Learn more about the structure of Portugal’s government and the different political parties.

*Quick lesson on the word ‘chato’: This word has a lighthearted connotation, similar to annoying/boring/pesky/unpleasant. If the grocery store doesn’t have your favourite brand of cereal, that’s ‘chato’, but a dictatorship is obviously much worse than ‘chato’. When we use this word in the first line, it comes with a hefty dose of irony.

  • This was REALLY interesting to me. The vocabulary is difficult, but I think I picked up some new words, and I am very interested in learning more about Portuguese politics and history.
I love your interviews with older relatives (parents, aunts, etc,) and I believe an interview with one of them about what it was like in 1974-1976, and the spirit of the Carnation Revolution, would be interesting to others.
(Please forgive me if you have already done something like this — I am still exploring all of your content).
