New Blog Post

A blogger narrates a new entry about her favourite activity: watching television shows. Notice how she uses the verbs vir (to come) and ver (to watch) throughout the post. The conjugations of these verbs are similar, so they are easy to mix up. 🙂

  • Não acredito que vês isso! Should not the negative of acreditar + que be followied by the subjuncitve?
ie Não acredito que vejas isso!
In line with achar, pensar, crer etc.

    • Olá. Good point! Yes, according to formal grammar, this sentence should be formed with the subjunctive. However, it is now very common to also use the indicative mood with this verb in negative sentences (in casual speech). It’s usually in cases like this one, where the idea has already been established as a fact and the speakers are just reacting to it and expressing their surprise.

  • Gosto muito deste shortie. Poderia ser um documentário sobre a minha vida – o filho, o marido, o gato… muito divertido! Obrigada 🙂
