Comments

  • In the sentence “…..vou dar-vos a oportunidade de repetirem o teste…..”, why is repetirem conjugated in 3rd Pl? I would have expected the infinitive form? Thanks for a wonderful course.

    • Good question. It is actually the infinitive – the personal infinitive!
In this particular sentence, both the personal and the impersonal infinitive (repetirem / repetir) can be used with no difference in meaning. The personal infinitive is just reinforcing the grammatical person that has already been established earlier in the sentence (by’-vos’).

  • so “repetirem” is not the (plural) future subjuntive ? …. i.e., because retaking the test is still a hypothetical opportunity ?
