  • Olá! Eu tenho uma pergunta sobre expressão “qualquer lado”. Acho que vi outra expressão “qualquer lugar” também. Elas são intercambiáveis ou em português europeu apenas a primeira expressão é usada? Muito obrigada antecipadamente! Tenho sempre milhões de perguntas e vocês sempre me ajudam!

    • Olá! Muito obrigado pelo teu simpático comentário. Sim, as duas expressões são intercambiáveis; ambas são comuns em português europeu 🙂

  • Thanks so much, Joel and Damiana! Over the past two years, I’ve been dedicating an average of 60 minutes per day to studying Portuguese. My routine usually involves a Smart Review and a Unit lesson. I’ve found that this consistent exposure has improved my ability to remember vocabulary and grammar intuitively. I’ve been applying my Portuguese speaking skills at work, and I’ve noticed that I’m recalling words more easily with time.
One thing I’d like to stress is the importance of quality over quantity in language learning. For example, when I lived in the United States, I often struggled to understand foreigners because of their poor pronunciation. Now that I find myself as the foreigner, I realize how crucial it is to have good vocal quality and speak the language accurately. Rapid learning may aid in understanding Portuguese, but it will not facilitate effective communication with the native Portuguese. As an English teacher who speaks with students from Portugal, I know this all too well. It is vital that the words are stated correctly, or you will just get silence or confused looks from your students (or the grocery store casher, waitress, etc). Commit to pronouncing the words and using the grammar correctly today. Breaking a habit early is easier because it takes more effort to break habits that are ingrained.

  • Muito muito obgrida for all these new videos and podcasts over the last few months. I especially enjoy the combo of Joel plus a native speaker (Rui or guests 😊) as I’m very inspired by how well Joel speaks and he opens the door culturally (coming from a fellow North American) and asks the kind of questions I’d like to ask myself. As a language learning junkie, this topic was also super interesting!
