Feels very, very complete as a self study package! Especially as i feel that in the end i got the grammar more or less down, and it comes down to vocabulary and understanding. I just LOVE that you have a clear Lessons path and a lot of very coherent handy tools!

I want to tell you how pleased I am to have found your site. I have been wanting to learn Portuguese but was uncertain how to go about it. In the past, I have taught ESL and studied Korean and so assumed that a classroom would be necessary and being from a small community Portuguese lessons were not available. However, I am finding that your program is engaging, interactive and comprehensive enough that the classroom experience is not necessary.

I’m impressed by the well thought out order of the units, how they build on each other, and how new grammatical forms and verb tenses are intuitively introduced little by little without getting bogged down by too many explanations too early.

This is the best learning site for European Portuguese by far! And the most fun! Clearly, a lot of thought about learning a language went into constructing this site.
I love the variety of learning options, from the structured units with great explanations, to the ability to practice verb conjugations, to the listening quizzes and podcasts.
My husband and I are retiring in Portugal next year…and being able to converse in Portuguese is super important! I am a retired teacher and you all are incredible teachers! Well done!

You guys have this down. I´ve worked with some pretty good apps and YouTubers, and have been doing formal small group learning for the past six weeks. I´m not yet ready to say this is better than the live sessions, but it surpasses the others easily in its pacing, real-world scenarios, and inclusion of both grammar and vocabulary. I can only speak to the introductory session at this time, but the approach is fantastic as an adjunct to my live sessions.

I really do enjoy and greatly value PracticePortuguese.com. In my opinion, it is a phenomenal resource for learning European Portuguese…It is far more effective than DuoLingo, has a far superior pedagogical method, and has a much richer set of resources required to truly learn Portuguese.

Your main tool

When it’s time to speak or to listen, or to understand why you’re saying what you’re saying, or to go deeper into the language, PP is the way to go. Nothing else like it is out there. Duolingo won’t teach you any of these things. In particular, the shorties are really, really helpful. I listen to them over and over again at .7 speed, translation on, to hear how the sentences really sound, and go back to repeat individual sentences. You can’t get that anyplace else, and it is immeasurably helpful. So I say, use both. They both most definitely have their places. But PP will be your main tool for really getting at the learning of Portuguese.

This is by far the BEST language learning app I have ever experienced. I have just started…and I am already feeling somewhat confident (pronunciation is a killer!) and practicing what I have learned! Please, please, please share this language learning method with other European language platforms – it really is a game changer. I have studied French, Spanish, Italian, German, and Latin (in school and with learning apps like Pimsleur, Rosetta Stone and Babble)….and briefly studied Japanese with a private tutor (for travel) – and this method is by far the best I have ever encountered – after only four days practicing on the website (granted with a romance language background) I feel that I could now go into a cafe and reasonably (with mistakes) order a meal and be polite at the same time. And – I’m having so much fun!!! Kudos to you!
