A Lenda da Rainha Santa Isabel ANIMATED!

The Legend of the Queen Saint Elizabeth ANIMATED!

Our animator friend, Wayne, is back at it again with another beautifully animated version of one of our episodes! This is one of our favourites, especially because it features Rui’s parents lending their voice talent as the king and queen!

Comments

  • Espléndida animação. Pronúncia perfeitamente clara, y magnífica presentação. Assim é agradável aprender Português.

  • Would these grammatical points be correct?

pelo contrário – note use of contracted preposition

acordasse: pretérito imperfeito do conjuntivo de acordar

se apercebesse: from aperceber-se conjuntivo imperfeito; to become aware

    fazia: imperfeito indicativo

procurá-la: RSZ rule: drop last letter add accent (á) then hyphen (-) and “la”

carregada = loaded (from carregar – to carry)

Não te deixa dormir: note position of “te” before the verb in a negative statement

Não faças isso – conjuntivo presente of fazer

vires – conjuntivo presente of virar to turn (over or upside down, to become, to change)

fosses: conjuntivo imperfeito of IR and SER

    Obrigada,
    Sarah

    • Olá! It’s all readable and your notes are all correct 🙂 As additional info, I would add:

      – Não faças isso – conjuntivo presente of fazer, used in an imperative sense (negative imperative sentences are formed via the present subjunctive)

      – vires – conjuntivo presente of virar (to turn over or upside down, to become, to change) & of VER (to see)

      • Muito obrigada Joseph.

My friends in our (twice-weekly) Portuguese-language chat group are trying to figure out the grammar in the sentence that starts “Este seu plano transformou-se numa rotina […]” Why is it “Este seu plano” and not simply “O seu plano”?

        Obrigada,
        Sarah

        • You’re welcome!

“Este seu plano” and “O seu plano” are both absolutely fine to use. Think of “Este seu plano” as a way of saying “This plan of hers” – so, no real change in meaning, just a different phrasing.
