1
00:00:01,653 –> 00:00:03,560
Joel: Deixa-me encontrar o documento.
{{Joel: Let me find the document.}}
2
00:00:03,561 –> 00:00:05,106
Rui: Ah, temos um documento!
{{Rui: Ah, we have a document!}}
3
00:00:05,131 –> 00:00:06,556
J: Um documento ‘segredo’.
{{J: A ‘secret'(noun) document.}}
4
00:00:06,700 –> 00:00:07,613
R: Secreto.
{{R: Secret. (adj.)}}
5
00:00:07,613 –> 00:00:08,613
J: Secreto.
{{J: Secret. (adj.)}}
6
00:00:08,618 –> 00:00:11,083
R: ‘Segredo’ is a secret. A secret.
{{R: ‘Segredo’ is a secret. A secret.}}
7
00:00:11,083 –> 00:00:13,111
“Este vídeo é secreto.”
{{“This video is secret.”}}
8
00:00:13,111 –> 00:00:16,222
Ou então, “Vou contar-te um segredo.”
{{Or, “I’ll tell you a secret.”}}
9
00:00:17,733 –> 00:00:21,880
J: Pois. Secreto é o adjetivo e segredo é o nome.
{{J: Right. ‘Secreto’ is the adjective and ‘segredo’ is the noun.}}
10
00:00:21,880 –> 00:00:23,389
O tema é segredo.
{{The topic is a secret.}}
11
00:00:23,623 –> 00:00:24,941
R: O tema é segredo.
{{R: The topic is a secret.}}
12
00:00:24,941 –> 00:00:26,500
J: É mais fácil em inglês.
{{J: It’s easier in English.}}
13
00:00:26,705 –> 00:00:27,389
Bem-vindos!
{{Welcome!}}
14
00:00:27,389 –> 00:00:28,566
R: Bem-vindos!
{{R: Welcome!}}
15
00:00:28,566 –> 00:00:31,753
{{J: We couldn’t think of a subject for the podcast,}}
16
00:00:31,762 –> 00:00:38,781
então decidimos perguntar à Molly, a nossa colaboradora… para decidir ‘para’ nós.
{{so we decided to ask Molly, our collaborator… to decide ‘to’ us.}}
17
00:00:38,781 –> 00:00:39,234
R: Por nós.
{{R: For us.}}
18
00:00:39,234 –> 00:00:40,097
J: Por nós.
{{J: For us.}}
19
00:00:40,097 –> 00:00:48,994
{{R: We are in a temporary office, in the Saldanha area of Lisbon, in a co-working space,}}
20
00:00:48,994 –> 00:00:52,754
{{because our office is under construction, but it’s almost ready.}}
21
00:00:52,754 –> 00:00:58,919
{{This is a financial area with many offices, some shopping centers…}}
22
00:00:58,919 –> 00:01:05,167
{{J: The last episodes we recorded, many months ago now – sorry… We talked about news (reports).}}
23
00:01:05,167 –> 00:01:11,556
{{But I don’t know if people want to hear news (reports), or if they want something different.}}
24
00:01:11,556 –> 00:01:13,362
R: Notícias? Quais notícias?
{{R: News? What news?}}
25
00:01:13,362 –> 00:01:14,856
J: Notícias da nossa vida.
{{J: News of our life.}}
26
00:01:14,856 –> 00:01:18,833
R: Novidades da nossa vida. Era isso que querias dizer, novidades.
{{R: News/updates of our life. That’s what you meant, news.}}
27
00:01:18,833 –> 00:01:22,778
J: Mas às vezes, eu sinto que é um pouco… Como se diz ‘self-indulgent’? Auto…
{{J: But sometimes, I feel like it’s a little… How do you say ‘self-indulgent’? Self…}}
28
00:01:22,778 –> 00:01:26,000
{{When you talk a lot about yourself instead of more important things.}}
29
00:01:26,000 –> 00:01:27,039
R: Egocêntrico?
{{R: Egocentric?}}
30
00:01:27,039 –> 00:01:28,099
J: Sim, isso.
{{J: Yes, that.}}
31
00:01:28,099 –> 00:01:33,500
{{R: Oh, I don’t know. I think we do that because we know that the people over there}}
32
00:01:33,500 –> 00:01:36,552
{{also like to know a little about what happens over here.}}
33
00:01:36,552 –> 00:01:41,752
{{At least I like it when I watch videos. So that’s why we make some videos}}
34
00:01:41,752 –> 00:01:43,512
a falar da nossa vida.
{{talking about our life.}}
35
00:01:43,512 –> 00:01:47,306
{{J: So we do this: for those people who want some current events}}
36
00:01:47,306 –> 00:01:51,966
{{of what is happening in the Practice Portuguese company and in our lives…}}
37
00:01:51,966 –> 00:01:52,586
R: Novidades.
{{R: News.}}
38
00:01:52,586 –> 00:01:54,426
J: Novidades. O que é que eu disse? Atualidades?
{{J: News. What did I say? Current events?}}
39
00:01:54,426 –> 00:01:55,088
R: Atualidades.
{{R: Current events.}}
40
00:01:55,112 –> 00:02:00,499
{{J: News: you can wait until the end of the video, and we’ll insert some…}}
41
00:02:00,499 –> 00:02:01,212
R: Novidades.
{{R: News.}}
42
00:02:01,212 –> 00:02:01,706
J: ‘Nôvidades’.
43
00:02:01,706 –> 00:02:02,566
R: Novidades.
{{R: News.}}
44
00:02:02,592 –> 00:02:05,932
J: Novidades. Estás a deixar-me nervoso.
{{J: News. You’re making me nervous.}}
45
00:02:05,932 –> 00:02:07,056
R: Não é difícil.
{{R: It’s not difficult.}}
46
00:02:07,056 –> 00:02:13,881
{{J: So Molly prepared a list of questions for us and… I didn’t see the whole list,}}
47
00:02:13,881 –> 00:02:17,628
porque eu quero ficar surpreendido também.
{{because I want to be surprised too.}}
48
00:02:17,628 –> 00:02:18,611
R: Ser surpreendido.
{{R: To be surprised.}}
49
00:02:18,611 –> 00:02:24,667
J: Ser surpreendido.
{{J: To be surprised. We’ll look at one question at a time and we’ll both try to answer it.}}
50
00:02:24,667 –> 00:02:28,670
{{R: Well, I didn’t see any. I didn’t even know Molly had done questions.}}
51
00:02:28,670 –> 00:02:28,950
J: Pois.
{{J: Yeah.}}
52
00:02:28,950 –> 00:02:31,850
R: Só sabia que ela tinha tratado do assunto.
{{R: I only knew that she had taken care of it.}}
53
00:02:31,857 –> 00:02:34,056
J: Vou deixar-te traduzir para português.
{{J: I’ll let you translate it to Portuguese.}}
54
00:02:34,056 –> 00:02:39,722
{{R: What is the one thing you can’t forget to take with you when you leave home?}}
55
00:02:40,172 –> 00:02:42,500
J: Tu primeiro. Diz tu.
{{J: You first. You say.}}
56
00:02:42,886 –> 00:02:46,278
{{R: Well, I think these days, everybody says the same thing.}}
57
00:02:46,278 –> 00:02:47,039
J: Telemóvel.
{{J: Cell phone.}}
58
00:02:47,039 –> 00:02:47,852
R: Telemóvel.
{{R: Cell phone.}}
59
00:02:47,877 –> 00:02:53,206
{{J: I don’t leave the house with my cell phone. I take a book with me, the book I’m reading,}}
60
00:02:53,206 –> 00:02:57,500
{{to read on the street instead of opening applications…}}
61
00:02:57,500 –> 00:02:58,006
R: Não.
{{R: No.}}
62
00:02:58,006 –> 00:03:00,312
{{J: No. I think it has to be something more interesting.}}
63
00:03:00,312 –> 00:03:04,611
{{Something that not everyone takes with them.}}
64
00:03:06,759 –> 00:03:08,826
Eu vou primeiro. Os meus fones.
{{I’ll go first. My headphones.}}
65
00:03:08,872 –> 00:03:11,619
Não vou dizer o nome da marca…
{{I won’t say the name of the brand…}}
66
00:03:11,619 –> 00:03:13,599
{{R: Oh, yes, you can’t forget your headphones.}}
67
00:03:13,599 –> 00:03:17,239
{{J: – No: because they don’t need any more publicity.}}
68
00:03:17,239 –> 00:03:23,050
{{But I always carry my headphones because I don’t like to answer phone calls with just my cell phone,}}
69
00:03:23,050 –> 00:03:29,778
{{because I’m a little bad at Portuguese and I think that the headphones make it a little easier.}}
70
00:03:29,778 –> 00:03:33,004
{{R: And also because Joel, any task he does,}}
71
00:03:33,004 –> 00:03:36,457
{{he likes to take the opportunity to listen to a podcast, so…}}
72
00:03:36,471 –> 00:03:37,000
J: Sim.
{{J: Yes.}}
73
00:03:37,000 –> 00:03:43,154
{{R: Sometimes it’s a little annoying, because he’s at home doing the dishes and he has headphones (in).}}
74
00:03:43,154 –> 00:03:46,108
E eu estou na sala e digo, “Joel! Olha aqui esta não-sei-quê”…
{{And I’m in the room and I say, “Joel! Look here at this something-or-other!”}}
75
00:03:46,108 –> 00:03:48,056
Temos muitas perguntas.
{{J: OK, this has to go faster. We have a lot of questions.}}
76
00:03:48,056 –> 00:03:50,554
{{R: No, no. I have to take advantage of these videos to complain.}}
77
00:03:50,554 –> 00:03:52,514
J: Então, o que é que tu levas contigo?
{{J: So what do you take with you?}}
78
00:03:52,648 –> 00:03:58,994
{{R: I always try to go around with sunscreen, because my skin gets blotchy from the sun,}}
79
00:03:58,994 –> 00:04:04,961
{{and now that I am getting more… mature, I already have that concern.}}
80
00:04:04,961 –> 00:04:07,222
J: Muito bem. Próxima pergunta.
{{J: Very good. Next question.}}
81
00:04:09,401 –> 00:04:16,278
R: Ah!
{{R: Ah! Would you like to be fluent in all languages or be able to talk to animals?}}
82
00:04:17,301 –> 00:04:20,248
{{Well, I think I would rather talk to animals.}}
83
00:04:20,248 –> 00:04:27,948
{{J: Me too, because not every day do we see people who speak different languages,}}
84
00:04:27,948 –> 00:04:31,901
línguas que nós não falemos… falamos?
{{languages that we don’t speak?}}
85
00:04:31,901 –> 00:04:35,048
R: Sim. Línguas que nós não falamos.
{{R: Yes. Languages that we don’t speak.}}
86
00:04:35,048 –> 00:04:38,794
J: Falamos. Mas animais, vemos todos os dias.
{{J: ‘Falamos’. But animals, we see them every day.}}
87
00:04:38,834 –> 00:04:44,448
R: Sim.
{{R: Yes, and to have the opportunity to be able to talk to Elza, if only once in a lifetime,}}
88
00:04:44,448 –> 00:04:49,921
{{I think it would be very interesting. Asking, “So, how is your life going?”}}
89
00:04:49,921 –> 00:04:53,741
“Sou um bom dono? Estás feliz? Gostas da tua papa?”
{{“Am I a good owner? Are you happy? Do you like your porridge?”}}
90
00:04:53,741 –> 00:04:59,834
J: Sim.
{{J: Yes. Probably the people who are watching this video already have the goal of learning Portuguese.}}
91
00:04:59,834 –> 00:05:04,722
{{So, maybe they would choose to become fluent in all languages,}}
92
00:05:04,722 –> 00:05:07,696
{{which includes Portuguese, instead of talking to animals.}}
93
00:05:07,696 –> 00:05:08,835
O que é que vocês acham?
{{What do you think?}}
94
00:05:08,836 –> 00:05:12,489
R: Não sei. As pessoas conseguem falar doutras formas.
{{R: I don’t know. People can speak in other ways.}}
95
00:05:12,489 –> 00:05:17,353
{{There is always a way to communicate with people. With gestures, with drawings…}}
96
00:05:17,459 –> 00:05:19,166
Animais, de certeza.
{{Animals, for sure.}}
97
00:05:19,179 –> 00:05:22,778
Your biggest pet peeve?
{{J: Ai, I don’t know how to say this in Portuguese. Your biggest pet peeve?}}
98
00:05:23,739 –> 00:05:25,966
{{R: What is the thing that irritates you the most?}}
99
00:05:25,966 –> 00:05:26,966
J: Yeah.
{{J: Yeah.}}
100
00:05:27,126 –> 00:05:31,389
{{R: That thing, you know, that petty thing, but it makes you angry.}}
101
00:05:31,389 –> 00:05:40,143
{{I get very irritated when someone walks ahead of me on the street slower than me.}}
102
00:05:40,143 –> 00:05:43,170
{{I think, in my mind, the street should be just for me.}}
103
00:05:43,170 –> 00:05:48,057
{{And when I go to a place, I am like a horse.}}
104
00:05:48,057 –> 00:05:53,833
{{J: Anyone who goes faster than you is crazy and anyone who goes slower is boring.}}
105
00:05:53,883 –> 00:05:58,303
R: Sim.
{{R: Yes. So that’s a pet peeve of mine.}}
106
00:05:58,303 –> 00:06:05,290
{{J: This is already our second co-working site. Last month we worked on another site}}
107
00:06:05,290 –> 00:06:07,410
antes de mudarmos para aqui.
{{before we moved here.}}
108
00:06:07,597 –> 00:06:13,444
{{And one thing that annoyed me a lot was when people started a video call}}
109
00:06:13,477 –> 00:06:19,221
{{right in front of me and I appeared in their camera image.}}
110
00:06:19,221 –> 00:06:19,821
R: No fundo.
{{R: In the background.}}
111
00:06:19,821 –> 00:06:23,968
J: No fundo. E eu conseguia sempre ver no ecrã e estou a pensar,
{{J: In the background. And I could always see it on the screen and I’m thinking,}}
112
00:06:23,968 –> 00:06:29,961
“OK, estou a aparecer no ecrã de alguém no outro lado do mundo. Eu não sei quem é”,
{{“OK, I’m appearing on someone’s screen on the other side of the world. I don’t know who it is.”}}
113
00:06:29,961 –> 00:06:33,722
e acho um pouco ‘distraente’. ‘Distraente’?
{{and I find it a bit ‘distraente’?}}
114
00:06:33,768 –> 00:06:37,463
R: Não, distração. Achas que é uma distração, não é?
{{R: No, distraction. You think it’s a distraction, don’t you?}}
115
00:06:37,468 –> 00:06:38,028
J: Sim.
{{J: Yes.}}
116
00:06:38,028 –> 00:06:40,833
{{R: A very interesting question – let’s do it faster.}}
117
00:06:40,833 –> 00:06:44,266
{{What is the thing about me that irritates you the most?}}
118
00:06:44,266 –> 00:06:46,779
J: Ai, isso é muito perigoso.
{{J: Oh, that’s very dangerous.}}
119
00:06:46,779 –> 00:06:48,139
R: E o contrário?
{{R: And the other way around?}}
120
00:06:49,686 –> 00:06:56,592
{{J: When I ask a question and you either don’t answer, or you answer very softly and I don’t hear}}
121
00:06:56,592 –> 00:06:58,667
{{and then you get angry ‘that’ [because] I didn’t see it.}}
122
00:06:59,052 –> 00:07:04,432
{{As if it was my fault that you ‘spoke’ [had spoken] in a way that I couldn’t hear}}
123
00:07:04,432 –> 00:07:09,722
{{while I was in another room, with noise all around me, with Clarinha screaming in my face.}}
124
00:07:09,747 –> 00:07:10,747
R: *mumbles*
{{R: *mumbles*}}
125
00:07:11,136 –> 00:07:12,556
J: Hm? Ah!
{{J: Hm? Ah!}}
126
00:07:12,942 –> 00:07:18,688
R: O Joel ouve mal.
{{R: Joel doesn’t hear well. He really hears poorly, but this is a very old argument.}}
127
00:07:18,722 –> 00:07:19,349
J: Não.
{{J: No.}}
128
00:07:19,374 –> 00:07:22,782
{{R: Your thing that irritates me the most – one of the things…}}
129
00:07:22,782 –> 00:07:27,622
{{Joel leaves dental floss in every corner of the house.}}
130
00:07:27,622 –> 00:07:31,670
J: Ah, sim. Sabes porquê? Porque eu uso todos os dias.
{{J: Oh, yeah. Do you know why? Because I use it every day.}}
131
00:07:31,670 –> 00:07:35,657
{{R: But why is there one in the foyer, in the kitchen…?}}
132
00:07:35,657 –> 00:07:40,278
{{J: Because when I walk Elza for the last time at night,}}
133
00:07:40,278 –> 00:07:45,572
eu aproveito para usar fio dentário.
{{I take the opportunity to use dental floss.}}
134
00:07:45,572 –> 00:07:51,132
{{R: Every day, I collect dental floss from various areas of the house and put it in the same place.}}
135
00:07:51,132 –> 00:07:52,611
J: Próxima pergunta!
{{J: Next question!}}
136
00:07:53,259 –> 00:07:54,944
Se ‘estivesse’ que viver…
137
00:07:54,944 –> 00:07:56,389
R: Se tivesses.
{{R: If you had.}}
138
00:07:56,389 –> 00:07:59,891
J: Se tivesses de viver noutro país, qual seria?
{{J: If you had to live in another country, what would it be?}}
139
00:08:01,090 –> 00:08:02,450
Sem ser Portugal.
{{Other than Portugal.}}
140
00:08:03,683 –> 00:08:08,628
{{R: I really like living in Portugal, so it’s not something I’ve given much thought to.}}
141
00:08:08,628 –> 00:08:10,500
“Ah, onde é que eu gostaria de viver?”
{{“Ah, where would I like to live?”}}
142
00:08:10,500 –> 00:08:16,001
{{But there are some cities that I love, for the energy of the city and the people.}}
143
00:08:16,001 –> 00:08:21,234
{{I love Amsterdam, in Holland. I think I could live in Amsterdam.}}
144
00:08:23,357 –> 00:08:27,350
{{I also like warm countries. I think I could live in Brazil.}}
145
00:08:27,350 –> 00:08:29,737
As pessoas são muito alegres.
{{The people are very cheerful.}}
146
00:08:29,737 –> 00:08:30,630
J: Simpáticas.
{{J: Friendly.}}
147
00:08:30,630 –> 00:08:34,383
R: Sim, e conseguem relativizar tudo, então a vida parece mais leve.
{{R: Yes, and they can put everything into perspective, so life seems lighter.}}
148
00:08:34,383 –> 00:08:35,657
J: Consegues falar a língua?
{{J: Can you speak the language?}}
149
00:08:37,250 –> 00:08:40,097
R: Claro que sim! Nossa, você ‘tá louco?
{{R: Of course! Gee, are you crazy? (Brazilian accent)}}
150
00:08:40,097 –> 00:08:40,677
E tu?
{{And you?}}
151
00:08:40,677 –> 00:08:42,722
J: Eu sinto-me muito seguro em Portugal.
{{J: I feel very safe in Portugal.}}
152
00:08:42,722 –> 00:08:47,819
{{If it was a matter of security, it would probably be easier to go back to Canada,}}
153
00:08:47,819 –> 00:08:49,732
mas não gosto do frio.
{{but I don’t like the cold.}}
154
00:08:49,732 –> 00:08:55,086
{{If I ‘were’ [had] to choose by the energy, or a country that interests me more,}}
155
00:08:55,086 –> 00:09:00,966
{{it would be Argentina, because I lived there for 3 months, between contracts,}}
156
00:09:00,966 –> 00:09:04,833
{{when I worked on the cruise ships, and I liked the culture very much.}}
157
00:09:04,833 –> 00:09:06,886
Adoro yerba mate.
{{I love yerba mate.}}
158
00:09:06,886 –> 00:09:08,432
R: Seria em Buenos Aires?
{{R: Would it be in Buenos Aires?}}
159
00:09:08,432 –> 00:09:10,359
J: Sim. Acho que sim.
{{J: Yes, I think so.}}
160
00:09:10,359 –> 00:09:11,359
R: OK.
{{R: OK.}}
161
00:09:11,386 –> 00:09:13,079
{{J: Look, do you think we’re moving too much?}}
162
00:09:13,079 –> 00:09:16,389
R: Sim.
{{R: Yes. We have to apologize if we spend the whole video doing this.}}
163
00:09:16,389 –> 00:09:19,778
É porque estas cadeiras são divertidas.
{{It’s because these chairs are fun.}}
164
00:09:21,476 –> 00:09:23,076
J: Próxima pergunta.
{{J: Next question.}}
165
00:09:24,134 –> 00:09:30,000
{{R: What was the last TV series you watched compulsively? (binge-watched)}}
166
00:09:30,000 –> 00:09:30,953
J: ‘Binjar’.
{{J: ‘To binge’.}}
167
00:09:30,953 –> 00:09:35,193
R: Estamos a ‘binjar’ o The Office, a versão americana.
{{R: We are ‘binging’ The Office, the American version.}}
168
00:09:35,193 –> 00:09:35,953
J: Tão bom.
{{J: So good.}}
169
00:09:36,686 –> 00:09:39,966
{{R: But before that one, what did we ‘binge’ all the way through?}}
170
00:09:41,152 –> 00:09:44,111
J: Aqueles… Aquele do… WeWork.
{{J: Those… That one from… WeWork.}}
171
00:09:44,819 –> 00:09:46,532
Oh no. WeCrashed?
{{Oh no. WeCrashed?}}
172
00:09:46,532 –> 00:09:49,199
R: Mas, assim, séries compridas, tipo…
{{R: But, like, long series, like…}}
173
00:09:49,212 –> 00:09:50,406
J: Com mais que uma temporada.
{{J: With more than one season.}}
174
00:09:50,406 –> 00:09:52,126
R: Aquela do Crazy Ex-Girlfriend…
{{R: That one from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend…}}
175
00:09:52,126 –> 00:09:54,546
J: Ah, sim. A Molly conhece essa. Muito bem.
{{J: Oh, yeah. Molly knows that one. Very well.}}
176
00:09:54,546 –> 00:09:59,389
R: ‘Binjámos’… Eu estou a ‘binjar’ neste momento o Game of Thrones, mas sozinho,
{{R: ‘We binged’… I am ‘binging’ Game of Thrones at the moment, but alone,}}
177
00:09:59,389 –> 00:10:03,045
{{because Joel hates period shows and I love them.}}
178
00:10:03,086 –> 00:10:07,111
{{J: No, I like things with more relevance in my life.}}
179
00:10:07,406 –> 00:10:09,778
Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones…
{{Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones…}}
180
00:10:09,778 –> 00:10:10,997
R: Eu adoro.
{{R: I love it.}}
181
00:10:11,111 –> 00:10:16,667
{{I watch Game of Thrones in the evening and then read a book about the Tudors….}}
182
00:10:16,667 –> 00:10:18,167
É só reis e rainhas.
{{It’s all about kings and queens.}}
183
00:10:18,214 –> 00:10:22,447
{{J: Next question. What is one goal you have for this year?}}
184
00:10:22,447 –> 00:10:26,312
{{R: One of the goals you have for this year.}}
185
00:10:26,320 –> 00:10:31,717
Gostava de voltar a correr consistentemente.
{{I would like to get back to running consistently.}}
186
00:10:31,717 –> 00:10:33,997
J: Mas para fazer maratonas e essas coisas malucas?
{{J: But to do marathons and all that crazy stuff?}}
187
00:10:33,997 –> 00:10:39,210
{{R: No, no. Going back to running without a goal, without a specific race.}}
188
00:10:39,222 –> 00:10:41,756
Correr pelo prazer, mas de forma consistente,
{{Running for pleasure, but consistently,}}
189
00:10:41,756 –> 00:10:49,341
{{because I think it’s necessary to run sometimes,}}
190
00:10:49,341 –> 00:10:54,594
{{to pass that initial phase of discomfort, and then the body gets used to it.}}
191
00:10:55,001 –> 00:10:58,168
{{But I don’t know if I can do it without a race in mind,}}
192
00:10:58,168 –> 00:11:00,794
{{because when I have a goal, a specific race,}}
193
00:11:00,794 –> 00:11:05,041
é mais fácil planear treinos… Enfim, vamos ver.
{{it’s easier to plan training sessions… Anyway, we’ll see.}}
194
00:11:05,041 –> 00:11:07,944
{{But it was one thing that I really enjoyed doing, was getting back into running.}}
195
00:11:08,357 –> 00:11:13,394
{{J: For me, I think one challenge is that I’m a bit of a ‘workaholic’.}}
196
00:11:13,394 –> 00:11:16,268
Não sei se já mencionámos no passado.
{{I don’t know if we have mentioned it in the past.}}
197
00:11:16,268 –> 00:11:19,534
Um ‘trabalhólico’.
{{A ‘workaholic’.}}
198
00:11:19,534 –> 00:11:21,794
R: Um ‘trabalhólico’.
{{R: A ‘workaholic’.}}
199
00:11:21,794 –> 00:11:26,021
J: Mais recentemente, estou a tentar executar menos tarefas
{{J: More recently, I’m trying to do fewer tasks}}
200
00:11:26,021 –> 00:11:32,500
e delegar mais coisas para as pessoas que conseguem ‘as fazer’ [fazê-las] melhor que eu.
{{and delegate more things to people who can [do them] better than I can.}}
201
00:11:32,500 –> 00:11:38,172
R: Sim.
{{R: Yes. Video editing, for example, which he really enjoys doing, but it takes up a lot of time.}}
202
00:11:38,851 –> 00:11:41,938
J: Ah! Qual é a tua fobia?
{{J: Ah! What’s your phobia?}}
203
00:11:45,312 –> 00:11:47,406
As pessoas que andam devagar na rua.
{{People who walk slowly in the street.}}
204
00:11:47,406 –> 00:11:50,278
R: Não. Eu tenho fobia de alturas.
{{R: No. I have a phobia of heights.}}
205
00:11:50,278 –> 00:11:55,991
Sei que tenho essa fobia. Por exemplo, num parapeito, ‘ledge’,
{{I know I have this phobia. For example, on a ledge, ‘ledge’,}}
206
00:11:55,991 –> 00:12:00,823
fico bloqueado e as minhas pernas começam a derreter, parecem gelatina.
{{I get stuck and my legs start to melt, like jelly.}}
207
00:12:01,950 –> 00:12:07,944
{{Of course, if I am in a very high place, but feel that I am protected, I have no phobia.}}
208
00:12:07,944 –> 00:12:13,992
{{But any place where I’m not protected and where I have no security,}}
209
00:12:13,992 –> 00:12:16,692
não me consigo mexer, fico completamente bloqueado.
{{I can’t move, I get completely blocked.}}
210
00:12:16,692 –> 00:12:19,167
{{J: Aren’t most people like that?}}
211
00:12:19,556 –> 00:12:24,006
{{R: No, there are people who hang on the end of a building.}}
212
00:12:24,006 –> 00:12:27,859
{{For example, if you were on this ledge here, do you think you could walk over there?}}
213
00:12:27,859 –> 00:12:31,468
J: Não, não. Bem, conseguiria, mas não gostava da experiência.
{{J: No, no. Well, I could, but I wouldn’t like the experience.}}
214
00:12:31,468 –> 00:12:33,068
R: Tu tens uma fobia.
{{R: You have a phobia.}}
215
00:12:33,068 –> 00:12:36,154
J: Sim, a anacondas. Serpentes?
{{J: Yes, anacondas. Serpents?}}
216
00:12:36,154 –> 00:12:37,268
R: Qualquer cobra.
{{R: Any snake.}}
217
00:12:37,268 –> 00:12:38,954
J: Qual é a palavra geral? Serpentes?
{{J: What’s the general word? Serpents?}}
218
00:12:38,954 –> 00:12:39,834
R: Cobras?
{{R: Snakes?}}
219
00:12:39,834 –> 00:12:40,908
J: Cobras, sim.
{{J: Snakes, yes.}}
220
00:12:40,908 –> 00:12:44,333
{{R: I think it’s ‘serpente’, because ‘cobra’ is also a type, isn’t it?}}
221
00:12:44,384 –> 00:12:44,941
J: Yeah.
{{J: Yeah.}}
222
00:12:44,941 –> 00:12:47,348
{{R: I think the more general name should be serpent.}}
223
00:12:47,348 –> 00:12:51,768
{{J: For me, it’s snakes, snakes, whatever, in general. Whether it’s small or large.}}
224
00:12:51,768 –> 00:12:55,333
R: Alguém sabe a diferença entre serpente e cobra?
{{R: Does anyone know the difference between serpent and snake?}}
225
00:12:55,333 –> 00:12:56,921
Digam-nos se vocês souberem.
{{Let us know if you know.}}
226
00:12:56,921 –> 00:13:00,833
J: Outras fobias pequeninas… Eu fico um pouco nervoso nos hospitais
{{J: Other little phobias… I get a little nervous in hospitals}}
227
00:13:00,833 –> 00:13:03,611
ou em coisas de burocracia.
{{or in bureaucratic stuff.}}
228
00:13:03,611 –> 00:13:10,694
A minha voz começa a tremer e… Coisas oficiais, fico um pouco intimidado.
{{My voice starts to shake and… Official stuff, I get a little intimidated.}}
229
00:13:10,694 –> 00:13:13,174
R: É muito engraçado, porque nós somos o oposto.
{{R: It’s very funny, because we are the opposite.}}
230
00:13:13,174 –> 00:13:19,278
{{I, being a hypochondriac, love hospitals because I feel very safe.}}
231
00:13:19,278 –> 00:13:21,461
E o Joel odeia hospitais.
{{And Joel hates hospitals.}}
232
00:13:21,461 –> 00:13:24,587
{{J: I don’t know why. I had some dental surgeries as a child, but…}}
233
00:13:24,612 –> 00:13:25,088
R: Dentárias.
{{R: Dental.}}
234
00:13:25,088 –> 00:13:27,288
J: Dentárias. Não sei se pode ser por isso.
{{J: Dental. I don’t know if that could be why.}}
235
00:13:27,313 –> 00:13:28,233
R: Mais, mais.
{{R: More, more.}}
236
00:13:28,233 –> 00:13:30,493
{{J: Ah, this is getting very personal, guys.}}
237
00:13:32,725 –> 00:13:34,333
Oh yeah, isto é bom.
{{Oh yeah, this is good.}}
238
00:13:34,879 –> 00:13:38,552
{{Would you like to time travel to the future or to the past?}}
239
00:13:38,552 –> 00:13:44,703
{{R: Definitely to the past. As I said, I love everything medieval.}}
240
00:13:44,703 –> 00:13:50,550
{{So, if I could travel back to the time of the kings, I think I would love it.}}
241
00:13:50,550 –> 00:13:57,611
{{And future, I wouldn’t like, because I don’t have much hope for the future when I think about the future.}}
242
00:13:58,230 –> 00:14:07,050
{{I think… I don’t know, I hope I’m wrong and I hope we can reverse course, change course.}}
243
00:14:07,610 –> 00:14:10,537
{{But I don’t think I would like to see the future.}}
244
00:14:10,537 –> 00:14:12,833
{{J: Well, this is a very fun podcast, isn’t it?}}
245
00:14:12,833 –> 00:14:13,778
R: Tenho muito medo.
{{R: I’m very afraid.}}
246
00:14:13,778 –> 00:14:15,458
J: Perguntas divertidas.
{{J: Fun questions.}}
247
00:14:15,691 –> 00:14:22,619
{{I would also travel to the past, because I think I could pick a time}}
248
00:14:22,619 –> 00:14:26,426
{{and, maybe, a place that I would like,}}
249
00:14:26,426 –> 00:14:29,259
{{while yes, in the future, it could go very poorly.}}
250
00:14:29,259 –> 00:14:34,681
{{R: Look, but on the other hand, if we could travel to the future, we could see, who knows,}}
251
00:14:34,681 –> 00:14:41,167
os nossos bisnetos, trinetos…
{{our great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren…}}
252
00:14:42,061 –> 00:14:43,441
J: ‘Quatronetos’
{{J: ‘Great-great-great-grandchildren’}}
253
00:14:43,441 –> 00:14:47,903
{{R: That would be nice, wouldn’t it? To see those generations that we won’t see anymore.}}
254
00:14:47,903 –> 00:14:48,903
J: Pois.
{{J: Yeah.}}
255
00:14:49,070 –> 00:14:53,783
Se conseguisses conhecer uma celebridade, qual seria?
{{If you could meet one celebrity, which would it be?}}
256
00:14:53,783 –> 00:14:58,157
R: Não sei, não tenho nenhum… Não sou fã de nenhuma celebridade.
{{R: I don’t know, I don’t have any… I’m not a fan of any celebrity.}}
257
00:14:58,157 –> 00:14:58,625
J: Beyoncé.
{{J: Beyoncé.}}
258
00:14:58,650 –> 00:15:06,903
{{R: I’ve thought about it, because I think I like what they do professionally,}}
259
00:15:06,903 –> 00:15:15,703
{{but I don’t think that personally someone is more interesting because they are a celebrity.}}
260
00:15:15,703 –> 00:15:19,863
{{I don’t know. For example, I think Julia Roberts is an amazing actress,}}
261
00:15:19,863 –> 00:15:27,111
{{but I don’t think that makes her an amazing person in her personal life.}}
262
00:15:27,946 –> 00:15:30,392
{{J: Well, we will get comments from Julia Roberts’ fans.}}
263
00:15:30,417 –> 00:15:34,404
{{R: No, I am a Julia Roberts fan. I just don’t know if it’s enough}}
264
00:15:34,404 –> 00:15:37,254
para eu querer muito conhecê-la pessoalmente.
{{for me to really want to meet her in person.}}
265
00:15:37,254 –> 00:15:41,111
{{J: I’m a little disappointed, because my answer was going to be almost the same,}}
266
00:15:41,111 –> 00:15:45,921
que eu sou fã do que eles fazem, várias celebridades,
{{I am a fan of what they do, various celebrities,}}
267
00:15:45,921 –> 00:15:50,556
{{but I can’t think of a celebrity ‘in which’ [with whom] I could}}
268
00:15:50,556 –> 00:15:56,181
{{have an interesting conversation. I don’t think they would want to know much about me, maybe,}}
269
00:15:56,206 –> 00:16:00,021
{{because they are very busy, being celebrities and doing TikTok and whatnot.}}
270
00:16:00,021 –> 00:16:02,774
{{I don’t think I could talk to any celebrities.}}
271
00:16:02,774 –> 00:16:08,167
{{R: If I really had to choose to meet a celebrity and see a bit of their lives,}}
272
00:16:08,167 –> 00:16:11,667
seria talvez alguém da família das Kardashians.
{{it would perhaps be someone from the Kardashians’ family.}}
273
00:16:11,667 –> 00:16:14,611
{{J: Just to see what it’s like behind the curtain.}}
274
00:16:14,611 –> 00:16:21,846
{{R: I wonder how someone like Kim Kardashian wakes up. With gunk in her eyes,}}
275
00:16:21,846 –> 00:16:24,419
antes de lavar os dentes… Então…
{{before brushing her teeth… Then…}}
276
00:16:24,419 –> 00:16:27,892
{{J: For me, it would probably be some musician, just so I could…}}
277
00:16:27,892 –> 00:16:34,241
{{But instead of talking, we would play for an hour. And that’s it.}}
278
00:16:34,241 –> 00:16:34,988
R: Ah, isso é interessante.
{{R: Oh, that’s interesting.}}
279
00:16:34,988 –> 00:16:37,241
J: Sim. Então, seria uma conversa musical.
{{J: Yes. So it would be a musical conversation.}}
280
00:16:37,241 –> 00:16:38,667
R: Wow, deep!
{{R: Wow, deep!}}
281
00:16:39,368 –> 00:16:43,068
{{J: OK, this could be the last one, and then we’ll talk about some…}}
282
00:16:43,068 –> 00:16:44,108
R: Novidades!
{{R: News!}}
283
00:16:44,128 –> 00:16:48,366
J: Novidades? Não. Atualidades? Novidades, sim.
{{J: News? No. Current events? News, yes.}}
284
00:16:48,898 –> 00:16:51,106
Notícias, novidades, atualidades…
{{News (reports), news (updates), current events…}}
285
00:16:53,086 –> 00:16:55,765
{{This language is killing me, man.}}
286
00:16:55,790 –> 00:16:59,206
{{R: This sailor’s tongue is killing me…}}
287
00:16:59,206 –> 00:17:06,641
J: OK.
{{J: OK. If you had to eat only one kind of food for the rest of your life, what would it be?}}
288
00:17:06,641 –> 00:17:09,274
Eu acho que seria… Como é que se diz ‘cuisine’?
{{I think it would be… How do you say ‘cuisine’?}}
289
00:17:09,274 –> 00:17:10,888
R: Um tipo de culinária?
{{R: A type of cooking?}}
290
00:17:10,888 –> 00:17:12,833
J: Não, mas tipo dum país específico.
{{J: No, but like from a specific country.}}
291
00:17:13,406 –> 00:17:15,107
R: Eu acho que é culi… Não é um…?
{{R: I think it’s culi… Isn’t it a…?}}
292
00:17:15,107 –> 00:17:15,960
J: Culinário?
{{J: Culinary?}}
293
00:17:15,960 –> 00:17:20,167
{{R: Culinary… A type of… I think we say just a type of cooking.}}
294
00:17:20,167 –> 00:17:24,726
Porque nós dizemos cozinha mexicana, cozinha chinesa, cozinha japonesa…
{{Because we say Mexican cuisine, Chinese cuisine, Japanese cuisine.}}
295
00:17:24,726 –> 00:17:26,512
J: Em inglês, dizemos ‘cuisine’.
{{J: In English, we say ‘cuisine’.}}
296
00:17:26,512 –> 00:17:27,232
R: Pois.
{{R: Right.}}
297
00:17:27,232 –> 00:17:29,944
J: Então, vamos escolher um país.
{{J: So, let’s pick a country.}}
298
00:17:29,944 –> 00:17:31,667
R: Tem que ser um, mesmo?
{{R: Does it have to be one, really?}}
299
00:17:32,481 –> 00:17:34,778
J: OK, escolhe o primeiro e o segundo.
{{J: OK, choose the first and the second.}}
300
00:17:36,274 –> 00:17:42,274
{{R: It would be very difficult between Mexican and Italian food.}}
301
00:17:42,274 –> 00:17:45,901
Mas eu acho que talvez escolhesse italiana,
{{But I think I might have chosen Italian,}}
302
00:17:45,901 –> 00:17:51,722
{{because I don’t think I could ever get enough of pasta and pizza.}}
303
00:17:52,399 –> 00:17:53,519
J: E japonesa?
{{J: And Japanese?}}
304
00:17:54,246 –> 00:17:57,812
{{R: I think I could get sick/queasy more quickly.}}
305
00:17:57,812 –> 00:18:01,326
{{But maybe it’s because when I eat sushi, I eat such excessive amounts.}}
306
00:18:01,326 –> 00:18:02,199
J: E ficas maldisposto.
{{J: And you get sick.}}
307
00:18:02,199 –> 00:18:05,906
R: Fico maldisposto.
{{R: I get sick. Then, for a week, I don’t want to eat anymore.}}
308
00:18:05,906 –> 00:18:10,006
{{Maybe if I ate Japanese food more moderately.}}
309
00:18:11,132 –> 00:18:15,056
Sim.
{{Yes. And also more varied than sushi, you might like it.}}
310
00:18:15,056 –> 00:18:18,619
{{But one that I’m sure I would love would be Italian.}}
311
00:18:18,619 –> 00:18:22,172
J: Para saúde, acho que eu escolheria mexicana,
{{J: For health, I think I would choose Mexican,}}
312
00:18:22,172 –> 00:18:27,719
porque a comida é muito fresca, adoro abacate… Se calhar, seria mais ou menos saudável.
{{because the food is very fresh, I love avocado… Maybe it would be more or less healthy.}}
313
00:18:27,719 –> 00:18:32,074
Pelo sabor, comida italiana… Ah, e comida ‘tailanês’ [tailandesa].
{{For flavor, Italian food… Oh, and Thai food.}}
314
00:18:32,094 –> 00:18:33,274
R: Tailandês é muito bom.
{{R: Thai is very good.}}
315
00:18:33,274 –> 00:18:36,500
J: Temos várias perguntas. Vou deixar-te escolher a última.
{{J: We have several questions. I’ll let you choose the last one.}}
316
00:18:36,500 –> 00:18:38,254
{{R: Are those personal or is it still these…?}}
317
00:18:38,254 –> 00:18:40,833
J: São perguntas do mesmo género.
{{J: They are questions of the same kind.}}
318
00:18:41,521 –> 00:18:43,778
{{But I think we should end with one more.}}
319
00:18:43,814 –> 00:18:45,674
Vamos escolher a pergunta para outra pessoa.
{{Let’s choose the question for the other person.}}
320
00:18:45,674 –> 00:18:46,278
R: Para outro?
{{R: For the other?}}
321
00:18:46,278 –> 00:18:49,732
{{When you were a child, what did you like to do most?}}
322
00:18:52,132 –> 00:18:57,659
J: OK. Sou um nerd. Gostava de usar o computador e aprender a fazer coisas.
{{J: OK. I’m a nerd. I liked to use the computer and learn how to do things.}}
323
00:18:57,659 –> 00:18:59,766
Websites e…
{{Websites and…}}
324
00:18:59,766 –> 00:19:00,972
R: Não, não, em criança.
{{R: No, no, as a child.}}
325
00:19:00,972 –> 00:19:04,472
J: Em criança, sim. Tipo, antes de doze anos, não é?
{{J: As a child, yes. Like, before the age of 12, right?}}
326
00:19:04,472 –> 00:19:08,299
Com… Sim, sete, oito, já brincava com computadores,
{{With… Yes, 7, 8, I was already playing with computers,}}
327
00:19:08,299 –> 00:19:13,306
{{I used to take the parts from two computers to assemble one mega-computer. That’s not done anymore.}}
328
00:19:13,306 –> 00:19:14,912
R: Com onze anos? Ou dez anos?
{{R: At 11 or 10 years old?}}
329
00:19:14,912 –> 00:19:16,272
J: Com menos, sim.
{{J: At a younger age, yes.}}
330
00:19:17,399 –> 00:19:19,737
E tocar música.
{{And play music.}}
331
00:19:19,737 –> 00:19:23,167
{{R: Our members could also make a list of questions.}}
332
00:19:23,297 –> 00:19:26,557
{{And we’ll do a podcast with just those questions.}}
333
00:19:26,557 –> 00:19:28,130
J: Ask Me Anything.
{{J: Ask Me Anything.}}
334
00:19:28,155 –> 00:19:29,250
R: Ask Me Anything.
{{R: Ask Me Anything.}}
335
00:19:29,250 –> 00:19:29,937
J: Ya.
{{J: Yeah.}}
336
00:19:30,637 –> 00:19:33,500
Ah… Não!
{{Ah… No!}}
337
00:19:34,097 –> 00:19:37,889
{{R: Sometimes it’s impossible to guess what Joel is thinking.}}
338
00:19:37,889 –> 00:19:41,376
J: Olha, descreve-te a ti em três palavras ou menos.
{{J: Look, describe yourself in three words or less.}}
339
00:19:41,376 –> 00:19:42,809
R: Na pergunta, não é assim.
{{R: In the question, it’s not like that.}}
340
00:19:42,809 –> 00:19:43,796
J: Pois, eu mudei.
{{J: Yeah, I changed it.}}
341
00:19:43,796 –> 00:19:45,968
{{R: Then ask the question that is there.}}
342
00:19:45,968 –> 00:19:50,111
J: OK.
{{J: OK. Describe your partner in three words or less.}}
343
00:19:50,111 –> 00:19:52,468
{{But I thought that question was going to be dangerous.}}
344
00:19:52,468 –> 00:19:57,214
R: As três primeiras coisas… Bem, bondoso.
{{R: The first three things… Well, kind.}}
345
00:19:57,214 –> 00:19:58,056
J: OK!
{{J: OK!}}
346
00:19:58,056 –> 00:20:04,389
R: Kind. Atencioso e equilibrado.
{{R: Kind. Caring and even-tempered.}}
347
00:20:07,363 –> 00:20:12,443
J: OK!
{{J: OK! I thought this question was going to create a fight, but no.}}
348
00:20:12,443 –> 00:20:14,389
R: Não, eu não vou dizer defeitos.
{{R: No, I won’t say flaws.}}
349
00:20:14,763 –> 00:20:16,123
J: OK, muito bem.
{{J: OK, very well.}}
350
00:20:16,130 –> 00:20:20,957
{{R: But if you want, for the next podcast, I can make a list of the flaws.}}
351
00:20:22,770 –> 00:20:25,237
{{J: I don’t think we have time for that whole list.}}
352
00:20:25,577 –> 00:20:28,450
R: Olha, vamos falar então de algumas novidades?
{{R: Look, let’s talk about some news then?}}
353
00:20:28,450 –> 00:20:32,190
O escritório continua em obras, a nossa casa continua em o…
{{The office is still under construction, our house is still in o…}}
354
00:20:32,670 –> 00:20:34,850
Espera, temos uma novidade desde o último episódio.
{{Wait, we have a new feature since the last episode.}}
355
00:20:34,850 –> 00:20:37,430
{{J: Yeah, I don’t know if they know that our house is under construction too.}}
356
00:20:37,430 –> 00:20:39,278
R: Não, muito maior que essa.
{{R: No, much bigger than that.}}
357
00:20:39,278 –> 00:20:41,111
J: Não, não vamos falar disso.
{{J: No, let’s not talk about that.}}
358
00:20:41,659 –> 00:20:42,111
R: Não?
{{R: No?}}
359
00:20:42,111 –> 00:20:44,833
{{J: No. We won’t talk about it until the new year.}}
360
00:20:44,833 –> 00:20:50,279
R: OK.
{{R: OK. It’s for you to be left wondering what’s new.}}
361
00:20:50,279 –> 00:20:52,946
A casa continua em obras, o escritório continua em obras…
{{The house is still under construction, the office is still under construction…}}
362
00:20:52,946 –> 00:20:57,545
J: Lançámos a aplicação. Está a correr bem, estamos a fazer… melhoras, melhoramentos?
{{J: We launched the app. It’s going well, we’re making… improvements, enhancements?}}
363
00:20:57,570 –> 00:20:58,110
R: Melhorias.
{{R: Improvements.}}
364
00:20:58,110 –> 00:20:58,783
J: Melhorias.
{{J: Improvements.}}
365
00:20:58,783 –> 00:21:00,503
R: Mas está a correr muito bem.
{{R: But it’s going very well.}}
366
00:21:00,503 –> 00:21:06,459
Estamos a trabalhar numa surpresa relativamente ao projeto.
{{We are working on a surprise regarding the project.}}
367
00:21:06,459 –> 00:21:07,459
J: Qual é?
{{J: Which one is it?}}
368
00:21:08,786 –> 00:21:10,105
R: Não podemos falar disso também.
{{R: We can’t talk about that either.}}
369
00:21:10,130 –> 00:21:15,652
J: Não podemos falar disso também. Há muitas novidades ‘segredas’.
{{J: We can’t talk about that either. There is a lot of ‘secrets’ (noun) news.}}
370
00:21:15,652 –> 00:21:16,556
R: Secretas!
{{R: Secret!}}
371
00:21:16,581 –> 00:21:17,639
J: Secretas? Não…
{{J: Secret? No…}}
372

{{J: The last time we did it was before the pandemic.}}

383
00:21:59,146 –> 00:22:00,526
R: Não faz mal, eu estou aqui.
{{R: It’s okay, I’m here.}}

R: Ah, sim, foi muito giro. Vocês podem ver-me a fazer calçada.
{{R: Oh, yes, it was very cute. You guys can see me doing calçada.}}
386
00:22:07,939 –> 00:22:11,206
Por acaso, temos aqui calçada. Podes filmar para inserir no vídeo.
{{As a matter of fact, we have calçada here. You can film it to insert in the video.}}
387
00:22:11,206 –> 00:22:13,339
J: Vou fazer isso logo a seguir.
{{J: I’ll do that right after.}}
388
00:22:13,614 –> 00:22:17,494
R: Há uma calçada muito linda aqui. Olha ali, aquela calçada ali é nova.
{{R: There’s a very beautiful calçada here. Look over there, that calçada over there is new.}}

00:22:18,222 –> 00:22:21,500
Vamos almoçar. Salada que trouxemos de casa.
{{Let’s have lunch. Salad we brought from home.}}
390
00:22:21,500 –> 00:22:24,248
{{Now we bring food in a tupperware, it’s also a new thing.}}
391
00:22:24,248 –> 00:22:28,389
{{No more ordering food with that brand name.}}
392
00:22:29,088 –> 00:22:30,841
J: Pois, aquela aplicação.
{{J: Yeah, that app.}}
393
00:22:30,841 –> 00:22:32,278
R: Aquela aplicação.
{{R: That app.}}
394
00:22:32,278 –> 00:22:35,222
J: Então, comida italiana, mexicana…
{{J: So, Italian food, Mexican food…}}
395
00:22:35,222 –> 00:22:37,222
R: Estávamos a ficar mais gordinhos.
{{R: We were getting fatter.}}
396
00:22:38,770 –> 00:22:44,556
J: Acho que ele está a falar de mim, mas diz ‘nós’ em vez de ‘tu’. Mas pronto.
{{J: I think he’s talking about me, but he says ‘we’ instead of ‘you’. But okay.}}
397
00:22:44,556 –> 00:22:46,201
R: O meu cabelo está comprido.
{{R: My hair is long.}}
398
00:22:46,201 –> 00:22:47,348

{{J: Oh, I didn’t notice.}}
399
00:22:47,348 –> 00:22:50,088
R: Se quiserem que eu corte, temos pena.
{{R: If you want me to cut it, too bad.}}
400
00:22:50,088 –> 00:22:53,528
J: Por favor, deixem nos comentários.
{{J: Please leave it in the comments.}}
401
00:22:53,528 –> 00:22:56,594
{{Whether Rui should grow more, or cut it, or keep it the same.}}
402
00:22:56,619 –> 00:22:59,888
R: Não, as pessoas não ‘crescem cabelo’, as pessoas deixam crescer o cabelo.
{{R: No, people don’t grow hair, people let their hair grow.}}
403
00:22:59,888 –> 00:23:02,000
J: Deixam crescer, OK.
{{J: They let it grow, OK.}}
404
00:23:03,034 –> 00:23:05,944
R: E com isto terminamos o episódio.
{{R: And with that we’ll end the episode.}}
405
00:23:06,641 –> 00:23:07,944
Até à próxima!
{{See you next time!}}
406
00:23:07,944 –> 00:23:10,056
{{J: Let’s show a little bit of the scene here.}}
407
00:23:12,419 –> 00:23:14,099
R: ‘Ganda’ cena, man.
{{R: Big scene, man.}}
408
00:23:14,672 –> 00:23:16,672
J: As pessoas a trabalharem…
{{J: People working…}}
409
00:23:18,292 –> 00:23:20,722
E aqui a rotunda do Saldanha.
{{And here is the Saldanha traffic circle.}}
410
00:23:20,722 –> 00:23:23,222
…I don’t know if that’s clipping, but we’ll find out.
411
00:23:24,866 –> 00:23:26,278
Ai, onde estás?
{{Oh, where are you?}}
412
00:23:27,072 –> 00:23:28,112
R: Oh my God!
413
00:23:28,206 –> 00:23:28,667
J: Tchau!
{{J: Bye!}}
414
00:23:28,667 –> 00:23:29,667
R: Tchau!
{{R: Bye!}}

00:23:32,540 –> 00:23:33,820
J: Bam! Content.
416
00:23:34,013 –> 00:23:35,533
R: True millenials.
417
00:23:35,560 –> 00:23:36,560
J: Yeah.

How do I download shorties to my iPhone to listen to when I don’t have WiFi?
First, install and log in to the Practice Portuguese mobile app. Then you can download mp3 audio and pdf transcripts under the Downloads tab for each episode. Your downloads are stored in the Downloads folder in the app menu, so you can access them there when you’re offline.
By the way, we also have a new feature for audio-only Smart Review, in which you can download reviews to use offline. (Check for “Listen & Speak” under the Smart Review section.)
Please let us know if there are any issues. 🙂
Como vai! I am an elementary student studying for the CIPLE A2 and am enrolled in your course. No complaints there, I love the curriculum. But the podcast seems way above my head. Am I missing something?
Matt
The podcast episodes are generally longer and more “free form”, which makes them more challenging. They can be filtered by level (A1, A2, etc.) on this page if you want to find the easier ones.
That said, for beginners I typically recommend starting with the Shorties. These can also be filtered by level and they are only 2 minutes long, so it’s less overwhelming when you’re getting started with listening to dialogues / more extended audio.
Perguntas a considerar:
This is my favorite! I have listened to it several times!
Mucho exito y comenzaré a seguirlos.
Obrigada.
Let me just say I genuinely love your course. I’m new in learning Portuguese but this has given the motivation I needed. You guys are the best!
